Life Coaching Techniques

Gears of ChangeMany techniques are employed to explore your personal issues and to provide insights that instigate change.

Some of the key methodologies for Life Coaching are described below:

Solution-Focused Coaching - By focusing on the desired future, we use this methodology to propel the coachee forward, exploring the life they wish for, reviewing where in their past they have experienced something similar (in full or in part) and investigating how they can reach their ideal future.

Cognitive-Behavioural Coaching - By focusing on the problematic thoughts of the coachee, we can drill down to their inner beliefs that are not conducive to moving forward.  When the coachee is able to identify an alternative belief that is more effective in facilitating change, this methodology promotes a positive evidence-based approach to support the coachee's changing perspective and behaviour.

Narrative Coaching - By focusing on the coachee's life as a series of stories that they've created to describe themselves, we identify the problematic stories that we collect/record evidence of and whole-heartedly believe in.  We separate the coachee from the problem and evaluate its impact on the coachee's life.  After deconstructing their problematic story we look to the coachee's past, unique outcomes as possibilities for a new story.  Then we construct a more conducive story that will bring about positive change.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming - By utilising the sensory channels of the coachee, we change the mental, emotional and physiological state of the coachee with scripts designed to address the coachee's needs.

Scheduling Activities - Commonly utilised in addressing work/life balance or time management issues, scheduling activities help coachees build awareness of their current time usage and how they can be more effective in managing time or balancing work and personal life.

Role-Playing - Commonly utilised in addressing communication issues, for example assertiveness skills training, role-playing provides a safe environment within which the coachee can practice learnt theoretical skills prior to trialing them in the live environment at work or at home.
